Dental
Instruments Needed for
Bush Dentistry: 2004 |
| |
Dr. Bill
Williams will be doing extensive oral surgery and
restorative dentistry in primitive locations on this two week
trip. We need enough instrumentation to keep the pace
steady to serve those in need. We expect several hundred
extractions to be done daily. The need is for enough surgical
instruments on hand to keep them being properly sterilized as
they are needed for the work at hands. In 2001 we did 600
extractions on 250 people in 4 days while in 2002 we removed 750 teeth on 515 people in 5 days of
clinics. Our 2004 (June) mission trip: 499 extractions for 398
patients, 10 fillings in 5 days of clinic. Less patients were
seen because they were healthier with fewer diseased teeth. We
purchased a portable dental unit with the funds donated by the
Drzik family. We need a number of 4-hole high and low speed
handpieces, carbide burs of all descriptions, supplies and
instrumentation for restorative dentistry. Dental anesthetic
is much needed as well as gauze sponges, gloves and bibs.
