Daniel, a
Community Dental Health Specialist with three years training
at the Nairobi Dental College, was our main screener for
dental problems, our translator, gave injections of lidocaine
and extracted teeth when necessary. His assistance was
invaluable in making this a successful dental mission trip.

Fluorosis affects
many teeth in the mountain area called Olmekenyu. The East
African Medical Journal published a scientific paper in 1984
that listed the maximum fluoride content of the Rift Valley
water at 57 PPM. Narok was listed at 7 PPM. The maximum safe
level for drinking water is 1 PPM.
